STUDENT'S LIFE

The academic year
Tuition fees and costs
After graduation

The academic year...
School usually starts in September and runs to April. Spring and summer courses are also available at most institutions. The length of time it takes to graduate depends on the program:  university degree (3-5 years); community college programs (1-3 years).

Tuition fees and costs...
Canadian public education is not a national responsibility but, rather, is under the jurisdiction of provinces and territories. Tuition fees, admission requirements, program and course offerings vary from one institution to the other. You must contact the institution directly for accurate information.

International students usually need approximately $20,000 CAD (or $13,000 USD) per academic year for tuition fees, books, residence, food and clothing. Expenses vary depending on the province and on the course of study.   On-campus housing is often available (some for graduate students only). Students can also choose to rent apartments near campus. Further information is available by contacting the institution directly.
Non-Canadian students may work on-campus only.

After graduation...
Canadian university degrees and college diplomas are recognized around the world and are considered equivalent to any offered in the United States or Europe, your key to success wherever life leads you. Non-Canadian graduating students may request authorization to stay in Canada for one year to work, an opportunity to gain valuable North American work experience before returning to their country.
